Layout plan

The cornerstone of your construction project

A stakeout is a surveying operation used to analyze the feasibility of a construction project and determine its location, while respecting property boundaries and current laws and regulations. On the ground, it takes the form of positioning the construction site using markers (nails, iron rods, stakes, etc.). Upon completion of the work, the surveyor issues a certificate of stakeout in the form of a plan illustrating the physical markers placed.

Multiple utilities and applications

A layout plan concerns future structures, but also those that will be renovated or modified, to ensure that they remain within property boundaries or outside of any natural or man-made constraints or any restrictive building laws. It may involve homes or commercial, industrial and government buildings to be built, but also a simple garden shed!

‍

Fully compliant with established rules and standards

‍
The Civil Code of Québec has requirements regarding the distance between a building and property boundaries, as do municipal bylaws. Governed by the Règlement sur la norme de pratique relative au piquetage et à l'implantation (Regulation respecting the standard of practice for staking and setting out) of the Ordre des arpenteurs-géomètres du Québec, stakeout operations help you comply with all these standards.

‍

Positioning, but also a precise radius

‍
A stakeout can be used to mark out an excavation or position a foundation for a home, but it can be much more than that. For example, it can be carried out as part of a project involving structures such as wind turbines, a dam, a road, a water and sewer system, or power lines.
